• "Robert has the most inspiring personality I have ever seen in the technical world. Besides traits common to successful businesspersons such as predicting success at a very early stage, his presence - in a conference room, dinner or bar -- creates a human experience few can match. If your business is locked in some fierce competition, launch Robert to the scene and wait for customers' phone calls."
Dr. Yuval Cassuto, Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, 2011
  • "There are people in your career that make a lasting impact. Although I am at the start of my career, when I look back, I believe that Robert will be that person. Robert hired me as one of his European University Program 'stagiaire's'. After 13months under Robert's guidance and leadership, I had experienced more than any of my University counterparts in similar internships. Robert invests his time, knowledge and experience. You are never made to feel like any question is too simple or stupid. As a manager he challenges you to challenge yourself and instils a strong working ethic at the same time as offering his constant guidance and support. Robert provided me with a great starting point to my career. Thank you Robert!"
Jayne Hodgkiss, Asset Manager and Business Analyst at Texas Instruments, Munich, Germany, 2011
  • "I worked for Robert for 13 months during my internship with Texas Instruments, however his support, guidance and wisdom have extended far beyond the initial call of duty. Robert has invested the time and effort that has helped me to evolve in a very short space of time. He has the ability to inspire confidence, gift knowledge and can always spare five minutes to provide advice, and for that, I am eternally grateful."
Adam Pavey, Studying Marketing, Plymouth, UK, 14th March'12
  • "Hard to believe, but it has been a very exciting 20 years.I still recognise that this was only possible because of the opportunity you gave me in the first place and the help and support in those early years, and I will always be grateful."
Tony Astley, EMEA Business Operations Director at Texas Instruments Germany, May'02
  • "I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed working with you and learned a whole lot from you. Thank you for your mentoring. It has been an invaluable experience for me to have the opportunity to work with someone like you."
Maria Ho, Product Manager at Texas Instruments Washington, USA, July'00
  • "I realise more and more each day though, just how lucky I was to have had the job I had working for you at TI and once again, Robert, I would like to thank you for the wonderful experience I gained whilst working for you. I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable and valuable year out. I really feel blessed for having been given this opportunity. I hope that what I have learned from this experience, and from you, will take me on a great career in the future."

Essaimage Associates has been training and mentoring field-based personnel since 1982. Professional selling is a difficult career, and when combined with always being on the move, represents a formidable challenge!

Robert Owen wrote his first "Basic Field Sales Engineer Training" in 1984 and has given this course many times. It is aimed at the new recruit who has just started in the field, and is struggling to get organised whilst trying to satisfy the growing demands of his customers and his boss. They find that there is never enough time, and they always seem to be in the wrong place when difficult requests come. This "Working Remotely" course enables a Professional Sales person to tap into 30 years of experience and make a step-function improvement in their productivity! It includes sections on Personal Organisation, Travel, Home Office, Time Management, Understanding your Customers' needs, Building you Support Network, Note Taking and Communications.

Other training topics which have also been given as formal training include: Interviewing Skills, The One Minute Manager®, Creative Brainstorming/Mind Mapping, Professional Selling, and Stress Management.

Of great relevance in today's global markets is Cultural Awareness. Most professional people spend time in meetings with people from different countries, and this creates many issues. The way you use English, your mannerisms, and the way you interact with others, can all create hidden problems preventing business success. Even sitting in the wrong place can be offensive! Training in this area is vital to enable self-awareness - once you know these details are important, you can respect them.

Robert Owen has given this kind of training as formal courses, as well as "on the job". It can work very well when developing customer-facing personnel, to enable them to have ad-hoc access to Robert's expertise as and when they need it. Then his wisdom helps the person at the time they most need it: just before a major trip or an important meeting.
